COMPONENTS FOR CONNECTIONS WORKSHOPS
IN TUCSON, ARIZONA

EXPERIENTIAL TECHNIQUES
An approach that uses psychodrama and other tools—such as
role-playing and empty chair—to help you access your inner
reality. Psychodrama is one of the most effective tools because
it uses all your senses in the learning process. Insight achieved
by “talk” therapies can enhance learning on a cognitive
level, but insight without experience cannot change behavior. Using
experiential techniques you are able to bring your inner reality
outside where it can be seen, talked to, felt, touched, heard, reframed,
and completed. In a safe place, you can feel your fears, name your
traumas, find your voice, and speak your truth. You will start to
understand the things you do, so that you can then awaken, transform
and heal.
SWEAT LODGE CEREMONY
A Native American ritual used to purify your spirit, mind, emotions,
and body to experience a closer connection to Great Spirit. Fully
clothed, you sit on the earth inside a small, hut-like structure
made from willow branches covered with canvas. Outside, a fire heats
stones that are brought into the sweat lodge four times during the
ceremony. Generally, the ceremony takes place in the evening under
the stars, in the silhouette of saguaro cactus, with the sounds
of coyote relatives in the distance. This four-hour ceremony of
prayer, singing, and thoughtful expression to one another can be
an unforgettable, loving, and healing experience.
MEDITATION
You will practice sitting in silence; journeying inward to experience
the voices of your own mind. Your mind is very powerful; your thoughts
help to bring about your reality. You do not see reality as it is.
You see reality as you are. If you are seeking peace, you will need
to learn how to gain control of your mind.
